14A Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
I think the main behaviors to do for keeping up with this class is staying on top of lectures and completing assignments, cupcakes, and peer reviews days in advance. I like to watch the lecture the same day it is posted so I do not fall behind and can complete the cupcakes earlier. Also, with the assignments I follow a similar schedule where I make sure that they are completed multiple days before the due date.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
One time where I felt like giving up on this class was when on the first assignment, I forgot that the assignments are due at noon and not midnight for most classes. My goal is to get an A in this class after looking through the syllabus I discovered that I could still receive that A if I worked hard for the rest of the semester.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset'?
1. My first tip for this class is to get a planner and right down all the due dates for everything that needs to be turned in. In doing this you can ensure that all your assignments are turned in on time.
2. My next tip is to turn in every assignment at least one day in advance of the due date. This class is a class where you can work ahead in and I highly recommended doing that, so nothing comes up right around the due date.
3. My last tip would be to stay on top of the lectures. The lectures are important for taking the cupcake quizzes as well as understanding the assignments. Watching the lectures on the same day that they are posted will help you not get backlogged in missed lectures.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteI have developed the same habit of watching the lecture the day it goes on Canvas. I think the lectures are way too long to wait till the very end of the week to watch. Staying on top of the lectures is probably the most important part of the class. While the cupcakes are only 1 point you never know how badly you will need those points by the end of the semester. I think you have developed a very tenacious attitude in this class. Great job Michael!
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you to be successful in this course you have to maiming a behavior and to be able to keep up with it. Getting a planner is a great idea to keep up with this class and is a way to manage your time and assignments. I would say it would be best to submit everything as soon as possible at not a day before is due. I would definitely agree with you staying on top of the lectures is a must. I would also say to take notes while you are watching the lecture because that would help you when you have to take the cupcakes. Great reflection I enjoy reading it.
Hi Michael,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that it is important to keep up with the lectures for this class. Keeping up with the lectures allows you to know what's going on in the class, and be able to successfully complete the cupcakes before their due date. In addition, it is extremely important to keep up with the assignments and get them done as early as possible because if you miss an assignment it can make it extremely tough to stay on track in this course.
