20A - Growing your Social Capital

1)     Jim Loree is the President and CEO of Stanley Black & Decker which owns Bostitch. He is represented in my domain expert slot. I found the person through conducting research on google. I asked him about their acquiring on Bostitch and why they saw it as an attractive market. This will enhance my ability to exploit an opportunity because it will help me better understand the market from someone who has been in the business for a while. 2)     Gerry Smith is the CEO of Office Depot. He is represented in my expert slot. I also found this person by conducting research on google. I asked Gerry about the different brands of three-hole punchers they sell, and which ones do better and why. I am using Mr. Smith to figure out which brands sell the best at Office Depot and why they do i.e. (price, color, display, etc.). 3)     Mitchell R. Butier is the CEO of Avery Dennison and they focus on adhesive manufacturing. He is in my suppl...

19A - Idea Napkin No. 2

1)     You . I am a second-year finance major at the University of Florida in the combined degree MSF program. Many of my talents revolve around the finance industry. I interned last summer with the Irish Mortgage Brokers in Dublin, Ireland and currently have a part-time job with core spaces as an ambassador and am the treasurer for the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. I aspire to start my career as an investment banker and am not sure what I would like to do after that. If I were to start the business, then my future plan would be very different. I would most likely quit my job and put all my effort into this product because I would not have time to do both. 2)     What are you offering to customers? The product that I am offering customers will solve the problem up three-hole punched papers getting ripped in binders. The process of purchasing reinforcer stickers and placing them on each individual hole is tedious and tiresome. My product will combine ...

18A - Create a Customer Avatar

Image
My Customer avatar is a secretary for an office. He likes to watch movies and go on walks when he is not at work. He drives a white Toyota but prefers to bike when he can. He has one child and it is not adopted. He is not big into books but enjoys listening to podcasts in his free time. He is in his late 30’s but feels ten years older. I do not have too much in common with this avatar because he is in the workforce right now and I am still a student. However, I could have chosen a different target avatar that was close to my age and that would have not been a coincidence. Most entrepreneurs discover a problem that happens in their own life so there would be a good chance that they are in the target market.

17A - Elevator Pitch No. 2

1)  The pitch. https://youtu.be/CwjG7ZJ3gnE 2)  A reflection on the feedback you received from your last pitch.  The most important feedback I received was spending less time focusing on the back story and more on the product. Also, I was told to be more energetic and excited in the video to help sell the product better. 3)  What did you change, based on the feedback? I focused on spending more time talking about the benefits of the product verses the background story. I felt that people do not care as much about how I came up with the idea, but rather how the product works and the benefits that it provides to the user.

15A-Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No.2

Interview 1: He said that price is very important for him, especially because he is in college and does not earn a lot of income. He liked to balance quality and price to find a good balance. For everyday goods like the combo hole puncher and reinforcer, he said that he would lean towards a cheaper price. He said that style would not be important for this product because it will likely be kept out of view from other people in his house. He said that he makes more of his purchases online because of the ease that Amazon and other companies provide. He also does not have reliable transportation so online purchases are easier. He prefers to use credit cards to make his purchases because he does not like to carry around cash. Also, apple pay makes it so he does not have to have a wallet on him at all times. He usually determines if he made a good purchase by how the product compares to his expectation of it. If the product does what he wanted it to or exceeds that, then he is happy. In...
