Michael,
ReplyDeleteI liked all the articles that you choose. They were all interesting stories to read. It's unfortunate that the taxpayers in Fort Lauderdale would be disproportionately fined if a law like that would be put in place but these cities need to be held accountable for neglecting their sewage systems. As a Rays fan that lives less than an hour outside of the Bay, everyone that I know from the area are worried about the future of the team. The article you choose perfectly illustrates the ever-growing turmoil between the franchise and the city officials. I wouldn't be majorly shocked if they ever decided to relocate in the near-future.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bernard I particularly enjoyed all the articles you chose. One article that shocked me are the sex trafficking risks in Miami for the Super Bowl. This has the potential to be a huge problem for the fans coming to the game and fans who live in Miami. There needs to be heavy security to ensure the safety of everyone this weekend. Great post Michael!.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteI found all of the stories you chose pretty interesting, as I don't know much about the Fort Lauderdale area. The two stories relating to the recent sewage issue intrigued me because of their relation to the local and state governments, as we talked in lecture about how large of a customer the various types of governments are and the power they hold. It really makes you think about the different ways the city can approach the state government with this issue.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of articles, I found all of these to be very interesting. The article that I found most interesting is the one about the new sewage laws being implemented in Fort Lauderdale. Sewage overflow has been a huge problem in Fort Lauderdale, but also all around Florida. In Tampa, where I am from, there are definitely problems with sewage overflowing and the fact that they are implementing new laws for sewage overflow is concerning because this will end up costing the city a lot of money and tax payer dollars.
